According to officials, the encounter took place after the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) and the local Shamli police received intelligence about Samaydeen’s presence in the isolated forest area of the Kandhla police station limits. Acting swiftly, multiple police teams cordoned off the region.
When officers called on Samaydeen to surrender, he allegedly fired indiscriminately at the police personnel, forcing them to return fire. Several rounds were exchanged during the encounter.
Samaydeen was considered one of western Uttar Pradesh’s most notorious criminals. He had a long criminal history and was wanted in numerous serious cases, including robbery, dacoity, and attempted murder. His continuous involvement in organised crime and evasion of arrest had led authorities to announce a cash reward of Rs 50,000 for information leading to his capture.
Senior police officials stated that the encounter was carried out in self-defence, as the accused had fired with the intent to kill. After the exchange ended, police recovered Samaydeen’s body from the scene along with an illegal pistol and used and unused cartridges.
The area has since been secured with heavy police deployment, and further legal procedures are underway. Authorities believe the encounter will help curb criminal activities and deter other offenders in the region.
